The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) was established by Commonwealth Legislation – The Treasury Laws Amendment (Putting Consumers First—Establishment of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority) Act 2018 (Cth), was enacted by Royal Assent on 5 March 2018 by the the Minister for Revenue and Financial Services, Kelly O’Dwyer a former emplyee of National Australia Bank (NAB).

AFCA is a limited liability private company whose member are 100% those that AFCA sits in judgment of.
